Cartoons I grew up with

The relation of children with cartoons is exciting. Cartoon industry is vast. Every child watches cartoons at infancy. He is badly addicted to them. It is his only job. As he grows up, his taste and choice also grows up. He still watches them, but now they are serious and mature ones.

When I was real young, I used to watch Mickey Mouse and other Disney cartoons, which are meant for very small kids. They were very colorful and moral cartoons. The goofs of goofy used to be hilarious. Tweety and the cat’s adventures were fun to watch. Tom and Jerry are legendary. I still love to watch their fights.

As I grew up, my choices grew up. Now I would watch Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. They were not movies, but small episodes based on the movies. I was in love with Disney’s creations. There was always something intriguing about those cartoons. I had watched them so any times, that I knew all the dialogues. But I never stopped watching them until the channel stopped airing them.

Then we came across the cartoon movie The Lion King. It was a good venture. I loved the emotional story of Simba and his dad. And the hilarious timon and Pumba added fun to the movie. The Cinderella was always an iconic figure for me. I never got enough of it. Especially the ball gown and her stilettos fascinated me for many years. Then the sequel Cinderella 2 was even better that the original movie. Seeing her become royalty was very amazing. Spirit, the movie about the horse, was one of the most touching and inspirational cartoon movies I have ever seen. It teaches us that the freedom is a treasure and we must cherish it. It had all the elements of a good movie. The music and songs were great.
Then the animated movies came into the scene. The Corpse Bride was a very interesting tale of a bride who was a corpse. Kung Fu Panda was another cartoon movie I really enjoyed watching. It recounted the story of a Panda who, in the start, was no more than a stupid, fat Panda. But determination to learn to fight made him a great warrior who finally brought down the evil lion. Madagascar told the story of zoo animals who accidently landed on the island of Madagascar during a voyage. It had very funny moments, the graphics and animation of the beautiful island was remarkable.

It was a good journey. I would always be thankful to the scientific development and the brilliant minds behind them for giving me such beautiful childhood memories.

Bermuda Triangle

Bermuda Triangle is a region in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. Bermuda Triangle is also known as the Devil’s Triangle. It is believed that any aircraft or ship which passes from that region is disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The region is like a triangle. The boundaries of the triangle cover some parts of Florida and entire island of Caribbean and Atlantic east of Azores.

Many ships cross this area daily for the ports of America, island of Caribbean and Europe. This is one of the heavily flown air route. Aircrafts go back and forth daily regularly to Florida. Most of the accidents occur along the southern boundary of Bahamas and Florida.

On September 16, 1950 first unusual disappearance occurred at Bermuda Triangle. Many people give supernatural explanations for these disappearances. But there could be many other reasons, like compass variations, Gulf Stream, human error, methane hydrate etc.

There is some unusual magnetic field which disturbs the magnet in the compass. Compass has natural variations due to local magnetic field in addition to the magnetic poles. This results in problems in navigation.
Gulf Stream is like a river within the ocean. It is a deep ocean current that originates near the Gulf of Mexico and flows to the Florida. This Gulf Stream has the ability to carry objects that float with it. It has great velocity. The surface velocity ranges up to 2.5 meters per second, which is quite enough to take small boats with it. Or it can cause trouble with the engine of small boats. This may cause them to sink.

Ships may sink due to hurricanes. Hurricanes are powerful storms in water. They take the floating objects to a great depth with them. These storms have caused a great lost of life and money in the past.

Methane hydrate is a form of natural gas. It can also lead to accidents in the ocean. The methane gas on the continental shelves disturbs the balance of the ships. Experiments have revealed that this gas decreases the density which causes the ships to sink. Bubbles appear which decrease the density and ships sink rapidly without any warning.
Rouge waves could also be a cause of ships for sinking. In early days these were considered as a mystery or a myth.
Any of the above mentioned facts could be a reason of ships to sink. But the actual and real cause is still unknown.
